Appointments

When you first make an appointment to see me, I will send you an email with several forms attached for you to review and keep copies of as well as print out, complete, and sign to bring to me the first session. I will use this information to guide our initial intake session.

The first couple of therapy sessions will be spent gathering information and getting to know each other so we can make a plan about how best to work together.

Psychotherapy is not easily described. It varies depending on the personalities of the psychologist and client, and the particular difficulties you are experiencing. There are many different methods I may use to deal with the issues that you hope to address.

Psychotherapy is not like a medical doctor visit. Instead, it calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for therapy to be most successful, you will want to work on things we talk about both during our sessions and during the week between sessions.

Psychotherapy can have benefits and risks. Since therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness and helplessness.

Psychotherapy has also been shown to have many benefits. Therapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, significant reductions in feelings of distress and an increase in a sense of well-being.
