Fees & FAQs
-
Fees are charged by time spent with you and prorated accordingly. Both initial intake sessions and therapy sessions are typically scheduled for 60 minutes at a rate of $180 per 60 minutes. If a 60-minute session is scheduled and reserved for you, you will be expected to pay for the full session even if you arrive late or have to leave early.
I also charge for my time engaging in other services for you including, but not limited to: phone calls with you prorated at a rate of $180 per 60 minutes (you will not be charged if the call is 10 minutes or less), and case management tasks including consultation with schools or other providers (such as medical professionals), compiling and summarizing requested records, letter writing or other documentation.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
- Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
- Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit cms.gov/nosurprises or call 877-696-6775.

I am not participating on any insurance panels, so I do not file claims for insurance companies. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, I would be happy to provide you with a super bill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement of the portion of my fee that your benefits cover.

You will be charged a $90 fee for cancellations with 36 to 25 hours’ notice. You are required to keep a current active credit card on file which will be charged any cancellation fees. My hours for seeing clients are generally Monday-Thursday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. I do see clients one evening per week but I cannot guarantee evening availability. Once we begin working together we will typically schedule a weekly or biweekly meeting time. If you have specific questions, please contact me.

The first session is what is called an intake session. The intake can take anywhere from one to three sessions. During the intake, I am gathering information, a comprehensive history and assessment (i.e. about what brings you in for therapy, about your past, and about your current symptoms) so that I can make recommendations for a therapy plan and determine whether referrals to other specialists are important or helpful. It is also a time when you can ask me questions and where you are deciding whether I am a good fit for your needs and whether you feel comfortable working with me.
-
I do not prescribe medication, but I will work with your psychiatrist or other medical professional if you are taking medication. If you are an existing client and you determine that you would like to pursue medication, please discuss this with me and I will make an appropriate referral.

Yes, in most circumstances everything you tell me, including your name and that you are seeing me, is strictly confidential. I am bound by HIPPA law, just as your physician is. However, there are some situations in which I am legally obligated to take action to protect others from harm, even if I have to reveal some information about a patient’s treatment. For example,
- If I believe that a child, elderly person, or disabled person is being abused, I must file a report with the appropriate state agency.
- If I believe that a patient is threatening serious bodily harm to another, I am required to take protective action. These actions may include notifying the potential victim, contacting the police, or seeking hospitalization for the patient.
- If the patient threatens to harm himself/herself, I may be obliged to seek hospitalization for him/her, or to contact family members or others who can help provide protection.
- In some legal proceedings involving child custody and those in which your emotional condition is an important issue, a judge could order my testimony or records if he/she determines that the issues demand it. I cannot provide any information without your written authorization, or a court order.
These situations have rarely occurred in my practice. If a similar situation occurs, I will make every effort to fully discuss it with you before taking action.
